Calligraphy at Cromford - introduction
This annual summer workshop was organised by Margaret for the first time in 2006, in an attempt to fill the calligraphic void in Derbyshire, where there are few classes for those interested in learning lettering skills. Recently, the topics have explored moving beyond the boundaries of conventional calligraphic styles.
It is based in the Grade II listed Gothic Warehouse, part of the historic cotton mill complex built by Sir Richard Arkwright in Cromford, near Matlock, Derbyshire in 1771.
Cromford is set in the Peak District National Park, which offers wonderful scenery, a wide variety of outdoor activities, historic buildings to visit and a good range of accommodation from camp sites to good quality hotels.
