NEW VENUE, NEW NAME
Summer Workshop - introduction:
Started by Margaret in 2006, this annual event has become a popular fixture in the calligraphic calendar. From July 2012 it will be moving from the original base at Arkwright's Mill in Cromford to a newly re-built village hall (with eco-friendly facilities) at Over Haddon, near Bakewell, Derbyshire. The workroom is very appealing, light, airy and spacious (photo above right) - an ideal working environment. The village is set on the edge of Lathkill Dale (a Site of Special Scientific Interest) and the hall's elevated position allows wonderful views across the dale to Youlgreave and beyond.
SUMMER WORKSHOP: 7/8 JULY 2012

2011 Workshop Review: 'Expressive calligraphy'
Moving away from the traditional form was never going to be easy, and those with considerable experience found it almost as difficult as those with a lot less! I am always thrilled at how students rise to the challenges I set them and this year was no exception. Many thanks to the 12, hard-core regulars and newcomers alike who worked extremely hard to produce such exciting and satisfying results.
